Raleigh International expedition Malaysia 2008
Three young people from the Netherlands are taking part in a Raleigh International expedition in Sabah, Malaysia. Over a period of ten weeks, the teenagers will join young people aged 17–24 from Malaysia, the UK and elsewhere to participate in challenging Community, Environment and Adventure projects.
Projects on this expedition include the construction of a kindergarten at Kampong Tampasak in the Tongod region of Sabah; building a suspension bridge in remote Imbak Canyon; assisting with trail clearance and camp construction in Danum Valley Conservation Area; and continued assistance to the community of Batu Puteh with their eco-lodge project on the Kinabatangan river. In addition, Raleigh participants will qualify as SCUBA divers and complete an underwater clean-up and coral planting off Mamutik Island, and will trek unsupported for 12 days in the hills around Long Pa Sia.
Raleigh International is a charity that provides adventurous and challenging expeditions for people from all backgrounds and nationalities, enabling them to develop their skills, explore the world and make a real difference to local communities and their environment.
