Traditional Costumes
Holland does not have one single national costume but a rich variety of traditional regional costumes. The traditional costume is hardly ever worn anymore, except for in a few places in Zeeland, the northeastern edge of the Veluwe and in Volendam and Marken (mainly fisherman's villages).
The most well known is the dress from Volendam with its typical white hat. You will find several ladies walking around in these costumes during the Holland days in Melaka. The costumes will be showcased through the expert commentary of our emcee, Ms. Saskia Beun.
The most famous part of the Dutch costume is wooden shoes. Wooden shoes are still worn by many farmers and bulb growers as cheap, long lasting and safe working shoes.
