New rules regarding hand baggage

EU and Malaysia

New rules on what is and what is not permitted in hand luggage took effect in the European Union on 6 November 2006. These rules apply to all passengers departing from or changing planes at all EU airports in all 27 EU countries, plus Iceland, Norway and Switzerland.

Effective from 21 May 2007 the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) rules also apply to all departing international passengers departing from or transiting on commercial flights at all International Airports in Malaysia, including all international-bound passengers departing from Malaysian Domestic Airports.

The new rules cover liquids such as water and other beverages, gels, pastes, lotions and the contents of aerosol cans. Toiletries such as toothpaste, shaving cream, hair gel, lip gloss and creams also fall under the rules.
