C) Short-Stay Visa (1 to 90 days) or Travel VisaYou can generally apply for a visa for one or more entries for the purpose of tourism, business or for family/friends visits, but neither the duration of any uninterrupted stay nor the total duration of successive stays may exceed three months in any half year reckoned from the date of the first entry.
Your application for this type of visa must be submitted with the documents listed below to the Embassy in whose territory the main destination of your journey(s) is situated, irrespective of which country in the Schengen area you are entering first.
The following documents are required for all short-stay visa application, irrespective of the purpose of stay:
- A passport with a validity of at least 6 months beyond the expiration date of the visa, plus a copy of the holder’s page.
- One completed and signed visa application form to be obtained at the Embassy counter or downloaded from this website, photocopies or faxed copies of the original form will not be accepted.
- One recent passport size photograph.
- A confirmed return airline reservation. Once the visa has been approved the return airline ticket should be purchased and shown at the Embassy before the visa will be issued in the passport.
- A return visa for Malaysia (work permit / residence permit / student visa / re-entry-permit) with a validity of at least 3 months beyond return to Malaysia, plus a copy of the visa.
- Travel insurance for the duration of the travel with a minimum cover of MYR 150.000,-, including a repatriation clause. The insurance must be valid in all Schengen countries.

Please note that holders of a Schengen visa are still subject to immigration control upon first entry into a Schengen country and are therefore not guaranteed automatic entry, even is they hold a Schengen visa.
Other visas, e.g. for stays exceeding 90 days or for the purpose of taking up any professional activity, remain subject to the national legislation of the relevant country. They must therefore be applied for at the Embassy of the relevant country.
